What we collect

When you create an account or use PreDentTX, we collect the following information:

Your email address and password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication)
Your role on the platform — predental student or dentist
Profile information you voluntarily provide: name, school, university, biography, and profile photo
For dentists: clinic name, address, specialty, shadowing requirements, and clinic photos
Shadowing requests, hour logs, event RSVPs, and job applications you submit
Resumes you upload when applying to positions

How we use your information

We use your information solely to operate the PreDentTX platform:

To connect predental students with dental clinics offering shadowing opportunities
To send email notifications about your requests, applications, and hour verifications
To display your profile to relevant parties (e.g., your student profile is visible to dentists you request from)
To maintain your hour log and track approved shadowing, volunteering, and paid hours
To improve the platform and fix technical issues

Who can see your information

PreDentTX is designed so that your data is only visible to people you directly interact with:

Dentist profiles and clinic listings are publicly visible to anyone who visits the site
Your student profile (name, school, bio, photo) is visible to dentists whose clinics you apply to or request from
Resumes you upload are accessible only to the dentist you submitted them to
Your shadowing requests and hour logs are only visible to you and the specific dentist involved
We do not display your email address publicly

Data storage and security

All data is stored in Google Firebase — a secure, SOC 2 compliant cloud platform. Passwords are never stored in plain text. Files and resumes are stored in Firebase Storage with access controls that restrict who can view them. We use industry-standard HTTPS encryption for all data in transit.

Email communications

PreDentTX sends transactional emails (via Resend) to notify you of activity on the platform — such as when a shadowing request is accepted or declined, or when your hours are verified. These are not marketing emails. You will only receive emails directly related to your activity on the platform.

Your rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Withdraw from the platform at any time

Children's privacy

PreDentTX is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us so we can remove it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

About PreDentTX

PreDentTX is an online platform that connects Texas predental students with licensed dental professionals offering shadowing opportunities, community events, and job listings. We are not a staffing agency and do not guarantee placement, employment, or any specific number of shadowing hours.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use PreDentTX. By creating an account, you represent that you are at least 18 years of age. Dentists who create clinic profiles represent that they are licensed dental professionals in the state of Texas.

Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. You agree not to share your login credentials with anyone else. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

Acceptable use

You agree to use PreDentTX only for its intended purpose — connecting predental students with dental professionals. You agree not to:

Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information about yourself or your clinic
Harass, threaten, or discriminate against any other user
Use the platform to solicit money or payment outside of legitimate posted job listings
Attempt to access another user's account or data
Use automated tools, bots, or scrapers on the platform
Post content that is illegal, defamatory, obscene, or violates any third-party rights

Shadowing arrangements

PreDentTX facilitates connections between students and dentists but is not a party to any shadowing arrangement. Any agreement regarding shadowing — including dates, hours, requirements, and conduct expectations — is solely between the student and the dental professional. PreDentTX is not responsible for the conduct of any user during a shadowing experience.

Hour logging and verification

Hours submitted through PreDentTX are for personal tracking purposes only. PreDentTX does not certify, guarantee, or formally verify hours for dental school applications. It is the student's responsibility to obtain official documentation directly from the dental professional if required by their application.

Content you post

By posting content on PreDentTX — including profile information, clinic descriptions, photos, and resumes — you grant PreDentTX a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content on the platform for its intended purpose. You retain ownership of your content. You represent that any content you post does not violate any third-party rights.

Disclaimer of warranties

PreDentTX is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not verify the credentials, qualifications, or background of any user — students or dentists are responsible for their own due diligence.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PreDentTX and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of data, injury during a shadowing experience, or disputes between users.

Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account at any time, without notice, if we determine that a user has violated these Terms or engaged in conduct harmful to other users or the platform. You may also delete your account at any time by contacting us.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of PreDentTX shall be resolved in the courts of Texas.

Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
